Abundance Rainbow Story

This mural features Laramie's world class precious Casper Aquifer. This aquifer provides approximately half of our water. The Laramie River to the left that provides the other half. The snakes in ou mural represent the Aboriginal Rainbow Serpent or Rainbow who brought water to the world. The white dot circles above the aquifer represent Huck Finn pond L and City Springs R. These springs represent the eyeballs of Rainbow.

See the Laramie Range to the right and its eastern slope where our vulnerable aquifer recharge zone is located. The black below is the Sherman granite that holds the water in the aquifer and the hands represent the Star Children from Arapaho culture who are protecting our water, waiting to be released into the night sky through our beautiful Cottonwood trees.

See the glorious Sun Lady who paints herself with red ochre at sunrise and sunset. The circles either side represent our recent solar eclipse. All the dots represent the rain drops that fill our aquifer, river and give birth to all life on our special land.

Designed and painted by art teacher Hailee Rushing, Summer Camp teacher Brooke Whitby, and the 2019 Abundance Summer Camp kids. Artistic Director: Paul Taylor.

Inspired by our local Geology, Australian Aboriginal culture and the Spiritual Law of the Rainbow Serpent, teaching us to "Care for Country", especially our water. Special thanks to the Laramie Plains Civic Center, Albany County Clean Water Advocates ACCWA, and the Parents and Staff of Abundance Day Care for making this a meaningful community project.
