Our mural celebrates our beautiful land, it's wildlife, history and our precious water.
Highlighted in our painting is the Little and Big Sandy Watershed that feeds our land and community. The Little Sandy Creek comes right by our school reminding us daily of our water source. Central to our painting is the "green belt", our community of Farson, our school, our watershed, our ranching, our farms and crop circles.
Our wildlife is celebrated to the West by silhouettes of antelope and mule deer and their famous migration N-S corridor (center in orange) showing their tracks.
To the East we celebrate our Red Desert region, it's world renowned Killpecker Sand Dunes, Native American heritage, Boars Tusk and ancient rock art sacred sites.
Our land was also a major human European settlement corridor. Here we celebrate from E-W, the Oregon, California and Mormon Trails in purple, blue and orange that transported over 400,000 settlers through our land in search of new beginnings.
Our mural is inspired by Australian Aboriginal culture, art and wisdom. Designed by Suzanne Whitson and her HS Advanced artists Aubrey Summers, Katriana Darrah, Shelby Madsen, Emily Robinson and it was painted by K-12 students, our entire school. The dots represent the life giving raindrops that regenerate our land and all living things. Our mural teaches us to care for our land, our water and each other.
